IL STURMOVIK 1946

Just got this today for £6.00

I decided to start off in Finland fighting against the Soviets.

I start off by taking the plane (a J-8A) up for a spin.

Time for a mission!

We scramble yet the weather is attrocious!

We have three incoming bombers targetting our airfield.

 

[Bootie]

I climb into the clouds hoping to stay away from the range of their guns and hidden by the clouds before engaging them.

I see them int he distance as my fighter group prepare to engage.

 

[Bootie]

Switching to gun sights we get the drop on them!!

 

[Bootie]

Im closing fast from the rear and get a couple of bursts into one of them, it starts smoking.

One of my fighter group gets the decisive shot!! Taking of a wing... the kill was so nearly mine.

Another assist.... I got on his tail and he couldnt shake me.... while I distracted him another fighter swoops in and takes the plane to bits.

The crew bail as the last of the bombers is declared killed over the radio.

 

[Bootie]

I return to base safe in the knowledge I have protected the airfield from the Russians for now at least.

I survived my first flight intact but did not get credited with any kills...

Very impressive for the first try, though. I expect more of that - thinking of acquiring the game myself.

The next mission in The Continuation War Finland v Russia sees me being scrambled after intel reported a Russian column moving towards a shall part of one of the main rivers... we need to catch them.

Its a nice day and en route to our mission we stumble upon a group of Russki bombers...

A different fighter wing is engaging them but I break from my flight plan to have a cheeky look.

I get a couple of bursts awaybut the range is too far and I dont have the speed to catch them!!

Besides... the other fighter wing has dealt with them...

I adjust course and head back towards my designated targets.
