Some time ago I mentioned that I was going to do a test to check why bullets are able to find leaders & gunners.
German HMG, area fire at 400m, Russian always hidden, different tiles.
Preliminary conclusions:
Three trees is the only cover.
Bullets will select l&g, up to a 40% of first casualties; after 3' it appears to be random (no leaders left, anyway).
Funny results that in a few occasions it was mainly leaders or mainly gunners.
I didn't check if bullets carry less evil intentions after a certain distance, another one of my impressions about the game. Area fire for 3' (or 10') at 800m gets a lot more bullets there than three bursts (or 1) at 300m, whatever the dispersion (specially HMG vs LMG), but less casualties (3'=0/1'=1).
I am not going to finish the test, it's even more boring than testing AI plans...
