But also celebrating the life of a remarkable man!

I guess his policy as president to reconciliate the black and white people of South Africa instead of revenge has made him the saint he is regarded as today.

@Bert Blitzkrieg: For us East Germans, at least my generation, Mandela was always a fighter for peace and freedom etc. We already learned in school about him. I suppose because he was a nice subject/object to ashame the western "opponents". Nevertheless one learned about him and his tragic destiny and made ones own thoughts. Without the political use of Mandela by our party and their servants the lessons about Mandela would have been real remarkable, I think.
