Hey guys, I keep seeing people set up their archers behind the infantry. Can archers fire over units now?

12.4 Overhead shooting:
Only non-gunpowder artillery can shoot over other units on level ground.
Bows, crossbows and slings can shoot over units from higher ground.
Troops on heavy fortifications can shoot over other units on the ground,
unless the tile the other unit is on is more than 50 height units (?) higher
than the tile the heavy fortifications are on.

Where have you seen this?
It was some battle on You Tube. I didn’t end up watching)g it but noticed the guy deployed his English archers behind his spears. Maybe there was a hill ahead that he planned on occupying.
