The Messerschmitt Me 323 "Gigant" was the single largest fixed-wing aircraft of WWII, was powered by 6 Gnome et Rhône GR14N radial engines rated at 990 hp each and when fully loaded, the Me 323 required the addition of 4 liquid-fueled RATO rockets to be fitted to the undersides of the wings in order to get off the ground.-

The Messerschmitt Me 323 was constructed from a variety of materials. The wings were made from plywood and fabric, while the fuselage consisted of a metal and wood structure covered with fabric. The floor was strengthened to support the payload.

The Messerschmitt Me 323 "Gigant" had a crew of five. A pilot and co-pilot, two flight engineers and a radio operator. Two gunners could also be carried if required.-
