The midget submarine Molch was built and used by the Navy of Germany towards the end of WW2. This 10 meters long submarines were manoeuvred by a crew of one. They construction was based on torpedo technology. The front of the hull contains a very large electrical battery that gave the torpedo engine a range of 64 km while traveling at a top speed of 5 knots. The Molch's Hull could withstand the pressure at a depth of 60 to 70 meters.

Around 400 of this submarines were produced between the early summer and the end of 1944 at the yards of the Weser AG, Bremen, and the Flenderwerken AG, Lübeck. The Molch was first used against the Operation Dragoon, the allied landing in the South of France in August 1944. Already then, they proved to be vulnerable and very hard to maneuver. They were later deployed in the coast of The Netherlands, Denmark and Norway, with high loses among their ranks. The Molch was mostly used as a training vessel for the crews of more advanced midget submarines.
