NASA’s big announcement will happen on Thursday at 2 p.m. Eastern Time and all they are hinting at so far is that this announcement involves an “astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe.â€

Take a hastily arranged NASA press conference, add a vague allusion to an “astrobiology discovery,” and you’ve got a recipe for mass web-fueled speculation that E.T. is finally coming home.
On Tuesday, the U.S. space agency announced a press conference to be held at 2pm EST on Thursday to “discuss an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life.” While that brief teaser is all NASA has said on the issue, many others have since taken to the web to complete the narrative.

“If I had to guess at what NASA is going to reveal on Thursday, I’d say that they’ve discovered arsenic on Titan and maybe even detected chemical evidence of bacteria utilizing it for photosynthesis,” wrote Jason Kottke on his blog shortly after the announcement. He explained his prediction was based on the specific areas of expertise of the scientists scheduled to speak. All but one have titles dealing directly with astrobiology or molecular evolution.
“Chances are it has something to do with the recent discovery by the NASA-led international Cassini-Huygens mission of a tentative atmosphere containing both oxygen and carbon dioxide on the surface of Saturn’s moon Rhea,” suggested Mike Fahey on the Kotaku blog.
While not mentioned in the original NASA announcement, Thursday’s event is reportedly going to focus on the findings of a paper set to be published in a forthcoming edition of the journal Science.
According to Richard Alleyne, science correspondent for the U.K.-based Telegraph newspaper, the paper will unveil the discovery of a microbe found at the bottom of Mono Lake in California’s Yosemite National Park. The lake bed is rich in arsenic, usually thought to be poisonous to all life, though the creature has apparently found a way to survive off of the element.
So it appears humanity has discovered another form of life, the only catch is that it makes its home on the same planet as us.

It's not that big. I mean it is big but on totally another way...
Actually it's about terrestrial life which works little bit different that we are used to.
 
So the speculation was correct. :)

Wow..a life form that thrives on poison....they could just look at congress for that!
