Maybe corruption has become more of certainty: according to Wikileaks Russia is in effect a mafia state and Putin offered investing more then a billion (euro's or dollars) into the tournament (and no doubt some FIFA pockets).
But on the other hand it is the first worldcup tournament in an Eastern European state. I find it stranger that the 2022 tournament will be held in Qatar. Only a third the size of the Netherlands (which isn't big at all), and just over a million of inhabitants, no football history, no stadiums etc. Just stupid. And a lot of money.

Yes -- looks like Fifa is following the money -- the Qatar decision is bizarre.

I fell off my chair laughing when Qatar came out the hat RFOL. . What is even more strange is the fact they are going to build all new stadiums then at the end knock them down and rebuild them in the Third world! It makes me laugh you can see some poor bugger no food , no water , no drngs or home to live in but they get a foot ball stadium to kick a ball in .

Was revealed to Joseph Blatter's idea of bringing the Cup to countries that never had, in search of new markets.

The English Football Association who run the game in this country are a bunch of pol-correct lefty wankers and have been ever since they sacked World Cup winning manager Alf Ramsey 40 years ago, and they've gone downhill ever since.
For years they snubbed the great Brian Clough and appointed a succession of second-bests to the job of England manager instead of him, and in more recent years they've started giving the job to FOREIGN managers, how crazy is that!
The FA couldn't run a whelk stall let alone a national football team..
