A driver is stuck in a traffic jam in Canberra ..
Nothing is moving.
Suddenly a man knocks on the car window.

The driver rolls down his window and asks, 'What's going on?'

'Terrorists down the road have kidnapped Kevin Rudd, Julia Gillard, Wayne Swan and Bob Brown.
They're asking for a $10 million ransom. Otherwise they're going to douse them with petrol and set them on fire.
We're going from car to car, taking up a collection.'

The driver asks, 'How much is everyone giving, on average?'

'Most people are giving about Five Litres.'
 
Not knowing who these folks are, I had to google them, whereupon my first guess was confirmed, politicians!
When you're done with the terrorists down under, could you please put them on the first flight to the US, we could use their help up here.
 
You gotta love it when the people come together for the greater good!

Love to mate, but we are stuck with these nitwits for a couple more years (ahh geez the horror) .. so we need them ! ..
 
Yep things are real good down here at the moment... mind you the Govt. is doing a great job of self-destructing at the moment...
