Tragic -- one of my favourite "real" actors in this day's plastic movie industry.

Makes you wonder ... just how short is the list of Hollywood actors NOT on drugs?

The troubled last months of tragic Philip Seymour Hoffman: Oscar winner had SPLIT from mother of his three children and refused to give interviews at Sundance weeks before fatal heroin overdose

• The 46-year-old Capote actor began renting a $10,000-a-month apartment in Bethune Street in Manhattan's Greenwich Village in October
• He previously shared a $4.4 million home three blocks away with longtime partner Mimi O’Donnell until they separated in the fall
• The actor's body was found Sunday morning at the Bethune Street apartment by close friend and playwright David Bar Katz
• Miss O'Donnell asked Mr Katz to check on the actor after he failed to pick up his son Cooper, 10 and daughters Tallulah, 7 and Willa, 5
• The actor appeared 'slightly disheveled and pasty' at January's Sundance Film Festival - his last public appearance - and refused to give interviews
• Investigators believe Mr Hoffman died of a heroin overdose
• Mr Hoffman was discovered on the bathroom floor wearing shorts and t-shirt with a needle sticking out of his arm
• Miss O'Donnell was seen weeping at the actor's apartment
