On holiday currently, arrived at a caravan touring park called Eye Kettleby Lakes near Melton Mowbray yesterday afternoon.
I gave Doris ( the caravan) a thorough clean before we left and now we are set up, including inflating and securing the Air awning which gives us a bit of extra space.
Click the link below to see photos and I will be adding to the album as we go through the holiday.

Would have been a lot funnier if you hadn't explained Doris was a caravan.
My wife named the caravan.

Went out for a Sunday roast today to a little pub called The Fox and Hounds in a village called Knossington.

Delicious.

Nipped out today and into Melton Mowbray for a wander about.
Steeped in history ( the town, not me) although the church was not open to the public today so I wasn’t able to take photos inside.
On behalf of the Forum I did carry out some extensive research and can indeed confirm that Melton Mowbray pies are most palatable.
Added just a few photos to the album.

Thanks, we have Doris set up now just about right for us.
The reason for photos of the awning pegs in the ground is for my benefit as this positioning of them gets the awning set up nice and square which is how it should be - also prevents water pooling on the roof if we get a heavy downpour.
Really enjoying this holiday and the site is very well appointed.

Been out and about today… it’s been very blustery overnight and throughout the day but the air awning has held fast.
We went to have a look around Market Harborough followed by a lovely drive across country via the B664 to Oakham …. would love to ride that route on a motorbike!
En route to Oakham we drove through a little village called Sutton and the church there looked so picturesque that I turned round and went back to take a couple of photos.
A nice day out and now back at Eye Kettleby Lakes enjoying a drink and reading a book.
Numerous photos uploaded to the album.

Out again today, this time to Rutland followed by a visit to the very pretty market town of Stamford.
The weather gods were with us today and as such I took the opportunity to take a few more snaps and add them to the gallery.

Also, following my superb singing in the shower, I am now just waiting for the site team to invite me to entertain the rest of the guests with my vast repertoire of vocal prowess….

Been out to this place today….

Very nice and steeped in history…

A few photos added accordingly to the gallery.

Such a lot of history in the UK .... Keep enjoying your selves Steve
Yup,
We are lucky to have all that.
Having a quiet day on site today, just reading a book called One day at a time by Arthur Titherington…. His account of his 1300 days in a Japanese slave labour camp in WW2.

A sobering read.

Sat having half a lager in the bar on our last evening here at Eye Kettleby lakes.
Highlights of the holiday have been our visits to several of the local market towns, especially Stamford, along with a nice time spent at the very picturesque Rutland water.
Heading home tomorrow morning, waiting for the morning rush hour to subside before we set off and avoiding the bin lorries in the village when we get there.

Cheers all.

Safe Journey Steve

Home now, no problem with the drive all the way home until I got into the close where we live - parked up outside the house which is at the end of the close.
Got out to disengage car from caravan and some yoof tried to drive past me just so he could pull up outside the house opposite ours.

I “strongly advised “ him to rethink and suggested he used the ample parking available behind the caravan and that he could “use his legs” to carry him the rest of the way to the front door of the house where he was going to collect his girlfriend ( my neighbour’s daughter.)

Somehow I don’t think he will be troubling me again, because if he does, he may run the gauntlet of incurring my displeasure.
