Plans for Christmas

What plans do you have for the Christmas season?
I am celebrating it earlier..this weekend in fact. Staying home except for picking up my son's family. Debating if having turkey or not...I am tired of turkey. Of coarse by saying the last statement, makes me think of all the other families that don't have as much or any of what we take for granted.
 
I'm having 11 days off, starting with 31. December, ending on January 11th.
That's because we celebrate Christmas on January 7th.
What are my plans....Hm...drink a lot of beer...and lot of vodka...
 
I m on leave from 23 of December till 09 of January.
Going to my hometown (Thessaloniki) where i ll spent the holidays with my parents and my parents in law which are coming from Romania.
I m hoping also for some quality CM time during my leave :)
 
many people celebrate Christmas on the 6th of January because that is when the Eastern Orthodox have their X-mas and they work off of a different calendar.
 
Going to my Mothers home, my Papou/Yiayia will be attending. My GF [For the first time ever] will be attending...Kind of crazy...

We have Lamb...and prime rib...

And hopefully I won't hear the dreaded bitching and moaning. Fortunately, my youngest sibling is able to comprehend games to a tee, so I will be challenging him in a game of PANZERBLITZ: Hill of Death
 
I am leaving for Texas on Saturday and won't return until after new years. I have to make the annual journey to Amarillo to visit the in-laws and be bored to tears for days on end. I hate Christmas time.

My favorite Holiday is the 4th of July! It is the perfect Holiday for the following reasons.

1. It is an American Holiday celebrating our countries independence and patriotism. This has protected it from being corrupted by other weird cultures or political correctness. There is only one version of the 4th of July and it is pure American. Unlike X-mas with Kwanzaa, Chanukah, etc.
2. You are guarenteed to have a four day weekend in celebration.
3. It is warm out, so you can BBQ and go to the lake.
4. You don't have to buy any damn presents for anyone.
5. You get to shoot off fireworks and blow things up!
6. No snow.

Serbia and Russia are following different calendar for Christmas.Greece,Romania, Cyprus and Orthodox in Middle East are celebrating Christmas on the same day with Catholics and Protestants.
 
Lord Bane, you have my deepest sympathies! Amarillo! Slashing your wrist was not an option? Your wife must be a beautiful, saintly woman for you to make such a pilgrimage.

True but I was with the Greek orthodox Church and they did Christmas on jan 6 th even though they lived in this side of the pond. But the real purpose of Christmas has been lost on many due to the commercialism of our culture.

I hear rumors that there is suggestion that Serbian Orthodox church is going to switch to Gregorian calendar, like other Christian churches. I dont think this will happen unless Russian Orthodox C. accept this calendar.
 
I´ll probably drink far too much on Christmas Eve, spend Christmas Day feeling horrible and hungover, then watch the English Premier League football on Boxing Day. The same as every year.
