SEAL Who Killed bin Laden feels betrayed by U.S. Government

After reading the article, I am left with more questions than answers. It was his choice to get out at 16 years, 4 years short of retirement, where is the govt doing him wrong there? As a Veteran he is eligible for care from the VA, which from my own experience will make fighting Al Qaeda seem like a trip to Dizzyland, but none the less, he has access to healthcare. So once again, how is his country turning it's back on him? There is more to this story than meets the eye.

I agree Facman. I was wondering why he was entitles to zippo? I then read further down that he was bailing early. He should be happy to get something after 20 if he stayed in. I could work 40 years have my 401K tank and be left without a pot to piss in. A lot of people today do not have any "guaranteed" retirement.

Should he get a nice retirement if in for twenty? Hell yeah. Doing what he does I would pay for that.

The req is twenty years not sixteen for retirement. He should be able to walk into any PMC or security company out there or become an advisor/instuctor to SWAT teams around the globe. He has more options than most people and that doesn't include benefits like the GI bill and such.
The civilian world can be overwhelming to some lifers when they get out. They go from twenty years of military structure and support to no support system in the civilian world. I saw this with my father and more so with my brother. The ink on his diploma wasn't even dry before he was on his way to basic, he gave the Army nine years before they cooked him. When he got out he was like a lost lamb in the civilian world. He is a very intelligent person and more than capable to care for himself but to suddenly not have any support system to fall back on, it caught him by surprise and took him two years to make the transition.
