Bought my bike today. I was going to buy a brand new Iron 1200, but found a 2018 model at my local dealership with 4038 miles on it that is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of upgrades. Here are some pics from the dealership (images are thumbnails, so click on them):

Here is the list of mods/upgrades:

Custom paint job (guy who did it lives in my town)

Vance & Hines "Big Radius 2-INTO-2" exhaust

Arlen Ness "Monster Sucker" air cleaner

LA Choppers "Kage Fighter T-Bars"

Biltwell grips

Led lighting

They also gave me a lifetime power train warranty (engine, and anything lubricated by oil) as long as I own the bike and as long as I have them service it every 5000 miles.

I'm stoked!!

It snowing pretty hard today, so they are going to trailer it to my house tomorrow, free of charge.

C'mon Spring!
The wife and I were at the store yesterday and saw a sportster parked in a spot. It was 35 yesterday. No fairing, nothing. Soooo, don’t let a little snow stop ya. Get some forward controls on that baby..much more comfortable

All this talk of bikes makes me yearn to get out on mine again........ so here's 4 mins of self indulgence......a short ride taking in a nice country road just outside the village where I live...

At the end of the video, if I was to turn left at the junction, this is where it would lead to.......

...same road, a bit further along, on yet another of the beemers I've owned.....

I feel respect for motorcycles, you know how to get on them but you don't know how you are going to descend.
In 1996 I drove Piaggio Vespa scooter, a car locked me up and I fell on the street. I was lucky that the vehicles that came behind did not hit me. On top the car that locked me, he ran away. I suffered a clavicle fracture.
In 1998 I had a Yamaha DT200, a taxi (or cab) crossed me on the road. I didn't even have time to dodge it, I hit it in the right front of the car, where my motorcycle was left and I flew over the taxi across the street. I only suffered minor blows.
I hope there isn't a third episode. They say the third is the definitive.

Louis,
I'm lucky enough not to have had an accident involving another vehicle whilst riding bikes for nearly 40 years now - I've come off several times due to black ice, but always at low speed and I've managed to avoid injury.

I never feel worried nor unsafe when I ride, nor do I consider myself over confident or a very skilled rider - I have been on group rides that I didn't enjoy mainly because the other riders were riding too close together, or otherwise dangerously - in those cases I have just pulled out of the ride.
i've ridden many tens of thousands of miles with one other rider, a mate who shares the same interests, also rides beemers, and whose riding style is the same as mine - we've had some fabulous days out together.

I do enjoy riding and I think the only things that would make me consider giving it up are the inevitable old age, or serious accident ( not wanting to tempt fate).

My wife always worries when I'm out riding, even though she has ridden pillion on my bike in the past, including riding in europe ( she did a stint working for the Police in the Control room taking emergency calls, including some involving motorbikes, and some of those being extremely experienced Police riders), and she knows I am a good rider - it's not my riding that worries her, it's all the other road users.

I suppose if I stopped enjoying it I'd give up, but I can't see that ever happening.

Thanks.

Steve

Need a seat for the wife...?
She's not interested at this time. Perhaps later.

Thanks for the link to DK custom products. Those tank lift kits look nice. UPS man delivered a sissy bar today. I'll install it next week. That will give me something to bungee a bag/backpack to.
I used a lift kit for the tank. It gets rid of all the plastic and wiring under the tank and cleans it up allowing the engine to stand out. I also used a ignition relocation kit to move the key to the opposite side helping to clean up under the tank as well. Both are easy DIY projects, took maybe 3 hours total. I used a short sissy bar and a seat from HD for the wife. Everything you buy from HD will be $400.00.
