The Railway Man (Film)

What a great film if you have heard about it and not sure......Go on and Go

Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman star in the powerful true story of a former army officer who tracks down his wartime torturer. After the fall of Singapore in 1942, young Scottish army lieutenant Eric Lomax (Jeremy Irvine) is captured by the Japanese. He's then forced to work on the notorious Thai-Burma railway. This becomes known as the 'Death Railway' because so many Allied prisoners of war die during its construction. Decades later, the adult Lomax (Colin Firth) is still suffering from the psychological trauma of those three and a half years of slave labour. But he meets beautiful Patricia Wallace (Nicole Kidman) on a train and they subsequently marry. With her encouragement, he sets out to track down Takashe Nagase (Hiroyuki Sanada) - the man who so brutally tortured him. Adapted from the late Eric Lomax's bestselling memoir of the same title, this is an extraordinarily moving account of the emotional aftermath of war.
