The Welbike, also called a parascooter1 unofficially, is a motorcycle created in the UK during the Second World War to facilitate the movement of airborne troops after being dropped by parachute.-

The bike was built with simplicity in mind and assembly management.- Seat, handlebars and steering were folding to fit inside a container droppable by parachute.-

The minimalist design was to save weight and mechanical problems only had rear wheel and brake damping, the transmission was direct, the engine was air cooled and the only concession to technology was pressurized fuel tank, as the carburetor was at the same height and could not be fed by gravity.-

Allowed a small hand pump to pressurize the container to return when necessary. The range was 145 km.-

He built at least 4,000 copies from 1942 until the end of the war, and deployed in Europe and in North Africa.- Also part of the team landed on D-Day troops, and some units became employed in the Soviet Union.-

Specifications
Engine 98cc, two stroke, single cylinder, air cooled
Transmission single-speed
Suspension none
Weight 32 kg (dry)
Fuel capacity 3.7 litres
