Hello all, not sure if this is the proper place to post this?
I am looking for help to research my Dads army history - any clues or leads from the group will be very much appreciated.
My Avatar is a photo of my Dad In Cairo 1934 - 8th Kings Irish Hussars, Army number 553102. When he was alive he told me a few things about his military history, but as a stupid young teenager I did not listen very well. I remember tales about fighting on horseback in Palestine until tanks were delivered, he was regimental shot, torpedoed on the way back to England, then again when he was in the merchant Navy for a while, before rejoining 8th army tank regiment in 1939 as a tank driver in North Africa and in Europe.
I did have a newspaper clipping of him with talking to a General or Field Marshal (can't remember his name) from his tank.
Does anyone here know how I can find out more about him from army records etc?
Thanks

What was his full name and date of birth/death?
Was he in the Irish Hussars all through WW2?
What rank?
PM the info to me if you want privacy..:)
