My other great passion is flight sims ... I've been playing them since my ZX81 (anyone remember Psion Flight Simulation?).
Red Baron, Flight of the intruder, Micropose flight sims, il2 1946, DCS, Rise of Flight and recently playing a lot of il2 BOX (The Great Battles series). But my favorite is Wings Over Flanders Fields ... Its a single player only, deeply immersive first world pilot (more than just flying) simulator. I play 'dead is dead', day by day. I'm currently station with 60 Sqd RFC in late January 1917. I started in Feb 1916 as lowly sgt flying reccy, now Im a captain in a fighter squadron leading (most of the time my own flight. ) I have survived longer with this pilot longer than any other. Actually the reason for getting back into CM was because things were hotting up over the Western Front and I was getting nervous I might actually get shot down! Here are a few screen shots from my most recent missions ...
TimStone of Flare Path fame, said awhile ago if you want to know what its like to fly a first world war plane then load up ROF (Rise of Flight) if you want to know what it was like to be a pilot in WW1 the load up WOFF ... I couldn't agree more.
Hope you didnt mind me sharing!
