The 2nd Battalion, 12th Regiment, of the U.S. Army's 14th Division used a tourist guide map of Paris that one of its officers traded two packs of cigarettes for in order to locate the unit's objective, the Prefecture of Police, during the liberation of Paris.

This is similar to modern day happing when the U. S. invaded Grenada, they did not have a map of Island and went to the library on board the battleship and found one in a National Geographic Magazine.
