This is a 3.2 km x 3.3 km master map of Buron and the surrounding villages as the appeared on D-Day, that is, undamaged and the only German defences being the two anti-tank ditches at that time. The map includes Buron, Gruchy and parts of Galmanche, St. Contest, Cussy, Authie, Cairon le Vieux and Les Buissons. This area was fought over by the Canadians on D-Day and again on 8 July during operation Charnwood.
This is the map I was originally working on before I discovered Yurievich’s great ‘Bloody Buron’ scenario and modified that one as ‘Bloody Buron Total Overhaul’. If you have played that map you will recognize that I have reproduced the village of Buron on the present map and have modified (i.e. distorted) my original work to better fit CM’s orthogonal and diagonal constraints.
How to use this map. This map is not QB ready. You will need to add your own objectives, deployment zones, friendly map directions, weather, map size and engagement type before adding it to your QB Maps directory. You have my permission to cut it up any way you want and to create any scenarios you wish. To date, no one has recreated the attack of the Stormont, Dunday and Glengary Highlanders from Cairon le Vieux to Gruchy.
