Working behind the scenes in getting the modern era narrative campaign ready for early next year.
To the more dedicated ARMA crew who monitor the ARMA scene more closely - thoughts on the current crop of modern era warfare mods out there? Which ones are the most versatile and bug free? For simplicity sake if all mods can be sourced from the Steam Workshop, makes it easier for any newbies who want to join and ensuring we all have the same versions at the same time.
I've been experimenting with my Zeus (and Areas mod) skills this past week and I see lots of potential for little narrative missions on the odd occaision to spice up the campaign and provide some cinematic but gritty moments to the campaign.
@Bootie - FYI.

For those interested - ruleset for how ARMA will interact with this campaign at the moment. Note it won't be a weekly focus or have a dominating influence on the overall campaign. But it does offer some narrative opportunities.

There is an elite group of private military contractors operating in the area known as 'The 1st FGM.’ They have combat experience across the Mediterranean, Africa and Eastern Europe. They have not declared any allegiance and prefer to operate on short term contracts for anyone who will pay and bankroll their operations. At particular points in the campaign the Game Masters will advise both sides that an opportunity has arisen for a PMC force to be deployed. A successfully completed PMC mission will likely provide some level of operational or tactical (within CMBS) bonus, or a disadvantage for the opposing side–but only if the 1st FGM is able to successfully complete the mission. Both sides will receive a mission briefing prior to deciding whether or not to bankroll the operation. At which point both sides will (in secret) bid for the services of the PMC. Whoever bids the highest will gain the PMC force for the mission. If one side outbids their opponent by a sizeable margin (as specified on the contract details), certainbonus’ (within ARMA 3) will be made available to the 1st FGM to assist in the successful completion of their mission.
Due to baffling network of brokers spread across Europe taking care of the contracts, payment and the details, the 1st FGM will not be aware of who has hired them for any particular mission.
There are a limited number of 1st FGM Operatives in the region, estimated to be around a company strength operating in small squad sized elements. For eachmission the 1st FGM operatives will have the equivalent of two times the number of ARMA 3 players taking part in the mission. Note that this does 17 not mean each player has two lives, but instead once the number of combined respawns/tickets has been passed, the mission will be declared a failure. Each time a player is ‘killed’ in an ARMA 3 mission and needs to respawn it is considered a casualty. For all intents and purposes, respawns are considered a new operative coming onto the scene.
The 1st FGM like to be paid in US Dollars. Both sides have a Black Ops Budget of $20 million USD for the campaign. All payments are final. The 1st FGM does not offer refunds for failed missions.
