Best Rome Total War Mod?

I have just reloaded Rome Total War and am soliciting fellow fans opinions on the RTW mod they most like. Please elaborate if time permits. Thanks ahead of time...

Well, it largely depends on which RTW you want to play: vanilla, Barabrian Invasion or Alexander. There are a couple very good ones, each with a different goal. My personal favorite is 'Roma Surrectum 2.0' (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=251), giving you an insanely enhanced experience while not changing the core game too much.
Another one is 'Hegemonia City States' (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=99), completely changing the game from incorporating all of the ancient world to onlyGreece and the Agaean Sea and you play out the conflicts between the Greek states...

There are more good ones, but these I like the most.

That is the one I've got installed too.
I read the Darthmod is good too. It doesn't alter to much but enhances the AI play a LOT. Or so I read. And the AI is the biggest downside of the vanilla version...

I have read about RS 2.o. I see it adds more factions, does it tweak the AI or not, if that's what your "does not change the core of the game" statement mean?

Nope, the mod is called "Darthmod". :tongue: Someother mods are incorporatijg Darth's AI imporvements into their own mods, but 'SPQR' is a mod in its own right.

The AI in RSII is much better then in the vanilla version. The makers recommend to play it on medium settings instead of hard or very hard.
