Yeah, I read Ambrose's "Pegasus Bridge" book about a year ago. An amazing feat of arms. Much respect for the Brit glider men and paras.

Here is an interesting tidbit about the battle... Richard Todd the actor who played Major Howard in the film The Longest Day actually took part in the battle but he was part of the 7th Parachute Bn who came to relieve the Ox and Bucks Light Infantry at the bridge.

Terrific! I cannot believe where they were able to put those gliders down next to Pegasus...at night!!

i've been to Pegasus bridge and they have stone markers in the ground where each glider landed. It was an incredible coup de main to land them as close to the bridge as they did. The Germans must have been stunned, imagine being a sentry at night and hearing the sudden whoosh and sound of splintering wood before a load of angry paras spewed out ! Not surprised they fled.
