The man has a point.

I am sick and tired of the tipping culture in the USA.

Today wife and I picked up her car after having it detailed at a professional service center, ~$300. When I went to pay at the card reader, it asked if I wanted to tip. Fuck you, I'm not tipping shit.

I've done professional work all my life and have never received $1 as a tip. Fuck this whole USA tipping culture. Pay your workers a decent wage. I'm not gonna tip a goddamn thing anymore.

Let your prices reflect your service, and pay your workers.

I hate the tipping culture too. I like to pay an agreed price for a service.
In Spain you only tip if you really want to show an extra thank you, it's not expected and it's certainly not a 20% tax like in the US.
Yes, pay your workers a decent wage out of your profits and stop this shit.

Yeah, I get it, it's traditional.
However, if the person serving you is on $18/hour say (which is pretty easy nowadays)
I no longer feel 'obligated' socially to leave at least 10%, more like 20% tip. I argue this with a friend, she calls me stingy for not leaving 20% to the poor barman and I just don't agree. A small tip is fine, I mean the guy gets a decent wage and if he's nice , good at his job, a small extra is plenty.
Thing is, it's an opaque system.

The problem is, in the USA, it has become a societal norm.

Don't get me wrong, most of my life I have tipped 15% for table service at restaurants, but now we are greeted with tipping screens at fast food places, carryout, etc. Nope. I'm done. I'm not tipping a goddamn thing ever again, for anything.

The car detailing place was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I'm paying you ~$350 to wash and wax a car. No tip. Pay your employees. I used to do the same job for my dad for $15.

I edited my post yo say $18/hour , what I meant.
That's it, pay your workers.
In anarchist Barcelona, during the civil war, Orwell notes that the waiters were offended by him offering a tip (if I remember rightly). They were now part owners of the bar, tipping was a habit of the exploitative system. Being dependant on a tip is demeaning.
The only people who'll argue against me are those who make great tip money, the minority.

@Meat Grinder
Any other topics you fancy a rant on ?
I'm about ready to head out with a hammer and break everything.
Hate the US for tipping system, get rid now! I do love taco trucks though, we can keep them.

Yea, I also like Taco Trucks. Damn!

Hammer time, bitches.

When did we lose sight of the fact that a tip of is a discretionary gift … and not an entitlement.

We in the USA have definitely lost sight of that. I used to be a good tipper 15-20%.

No more. I just don't tip anymore. Full Stop.

It's time to do a reset and make the restaurants pay their workers.

In some cultures it's insulting to offer a tip. Japan, for example.
I remember reading in 'Homage to Catalonia' by George Orwell, that tipping was seen as an insult in the bars of Barcelona because the workers had taken them over and were getting their fair share for a job done.
