Wonderjeep and I attended the Thursday Night Football game at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

Here's a shot during game, Niners down 3-6 just before halftime, they went on to win 13-6.
Post game shot as we waited for crowds to thin out before leaving. On the trip in, a few folks in the crowd stepped on Gunny's toes and I didn't want to repeat that experience, because I was getting a bit hot under the collar because of it.
In spite of the roaring crowd, Gunny had no trouble catching a nap in the final quarter. And as usual, she was a 'Rock Star', with many people wanting to pet and love her when they weren't stepping on her, during our adventure at Candlestick Park. One of the things that happens when Gunny and I are out and about, is folks showing me pictures of their Boxers on their cell phones, that happened several times this night.

I started the return trip today. I shall be taking the southern route because it will be warmer and once I hit Texas, gas prices should be much better. I was unable to get any pics of SF and the Golden Gate Bridge this morning as the fog was hugging the ground until I was south of SF. I did take a couple of pics of the 'Big Valley' as I was heading for the Mojave Desert, which I shall cross in the night. The Central Valley is the breadbasket of California, home to the state's diverse agricultural heritage (also the subject of a TV series; The Big Valley an American western television series which ran on ABC from September 15, 1965, to May 19, 1969. The show stars Barbara Stanwyck, as the widow of a wealthy nineteenth century California rancher.)

Well I was too tired to make the Mojave crossing last night, so I finished it today. Which was actually fortuitous, as I wouldn't have had the opportunity to take these pics...
I didn't spot the train in time to catch a shot of all the M1s at the front of the train, there were about a dozen.

More support vehicles. Based on my location (east of Barstow, Ca) when I took these pics, I suspect this train was headed for the US Desert Training Center at Fort Irwin, Ca., located just north of Barstow. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Irwin_National_Training_Center

Typical Mojave Desert Terrain. The foliage changes slowly as you head east, but it's still very hearty plant life to survive this environment. At 1000 hrs it was 83f/28c in late October.

And then Lonely Plante declares San Fransisco the #1 town to visit next year. Doesn't look to bad in 2012 either!
Well I rolled in at 0330 this morning, safe and sound. Gunny was so glad to be home she couldn't stand still for at least 15 minutes.
And another great road trip is in the can. Thanks to my FGM mates for making the journey such a special event.
