FGM Ladder 2017...let's discuss possible changes

Ok a few screen grabs of the testing.... files need modified but this is what we will be looking at...

Everyone starts with a rating of 2000. For this example Im only using 4 players as a test.

So I input them and set their score. 2000 pts.

I enter the match results.... as you can see its says Black and White.... its originally for chess but hopefully we can manipulate this....

Then I click a button to run the programme and it spits out all this data and more.... if I can bend it to suit us and also to fit in with the site I think it will work.

Either or...

I could input every result posted since July 18th 2014 (that would cost you the price of a beer and a plaster for my typing fingers) or I could start afresh. Im not actually fussed either way.... the data would take me a while to input but would certainly give greater value to the ladder.

I knew there was a catch. If it's website functionality I hope you like regular crashes and forum downtime. :)

Is it right that the new system would manage to work with won/lost/drawn data? That it will not be able to distinguish different levels of victory or loss?

... generally I absolutely agree with requests that Bootie describes for new ladder system ;)

My vote for restarting ladder with ELO system and the previous years saves as history...
 
Anything that will return my rightful place at the Bottom of the Ladder... I can hold up the rest of the players... :)

That is correct... just won draw and lost.

We (ithikial) is working on it at present and we are tweaking the little bits necessary but have to say we are looking good for a 2017 launch and 90% certain we can get it to work for us.

Oh and we have already popped in all the data since June 2014 and know who is top of the ladder. :)

OK Gentlemen........... As Always @Bootie UDAMAN... and @Ithikial UDAMANJR..... :) Great Job and excellent to hear... I just love it when a plan comes together (since it never does in CM for me)...

Bootie is Picard - the bald, calm, leader of the shio. I'm Riker - I have a beard and chase alien skirt.

Yeah degrees of victory appear to be out for now. I think starting from scratch would be a waste. We have over 550 game records going back two and a half years. The whole thing is still excel based so is safe in a sense we won't lose everything with a website crash. It's also in built pop up window heavy so Bootie or I can enter results.

Then there is the outputs... ;)

Could you apply a 'poor mans' ELO with a modifier of [50% +/-] to the points gained or lost depending on whether the opponent is above or below your rank on the Ladder.
A player can still 'game the system' by taking on lower ranked opponents consistently, but they'd have to work twice as hard to do it.

Bootie and I have agreed on the 2017 system and it's largely ready to go. May show it off while the boss is away. ;)
