LONG LIVE THE KING - Turn 1

Double post.

No, a double entendre....

All the battles started ok?
I'm still waiting for Nate to set up a challenge. I PM'd him yesterday but have not heard back. I have a few other games running so am just chilling till he can get to it.

Of course...it could be the English have simply soiled themselves at the thought of facing my mighty and noble French knights and are too afraid to take the field.

@Jolly Olly @Nathangun - You guys managed to get started ?

Bloody mayhem on the fields of AQUITAINE vs the pernicious Englishmen and their allies ... my Knights of Toulouse seem to have routed a good part of the English right flank, the centre is still hotly contested...

...while on the other end, that solid block of Welsh Spearmen (just to right of middle of pic) are in the process of demolishing my right wing.

Now let me see if I can rally my pursuing knights from the left flank and roll up @HOA_KSOP 's centre before he rolls up mine ... or something like that.

Well sorry to report that Rico totally routed my army, inflicting three times more casualties on me than I on him. I believe the margin of victory was 57%-23% in Rico's favor. I think the telling factors were that I did not refuse the flank he massed his horses on, I did not take advantage of my superior archer numbers, spending more time trying to get them into position than actually shooting arrows at anyone and not engaging his infantry from the start. Rico did a great job running over my ass with his knights and his infantry stiffened after initially giving up some ground and having a few units rout. He had about 4 times more knights than I did and I just did not have a good answer in unit distribution and placement to handle that threat. Hat off to Rico, great learning experience for me. Now I need to go tell King Nathangun of my failure....

heralds.jpg

Heralds are dispatched across the lands with news of the first two glorious victories...

Michel the Mad, Duke of Burgundy has captured BOURBON from the French King's domains.

The Count of Toulouse has captured AQUITAINE from the Kingdom of England.

We eagerly await news from the battlefield in ANJOU... will the English be repelled by French arms, or will the Royal lands of the King of France suffer another loss?
