A clash of ideologies if the US

This article below sums up what could be the best election to shape the US in decades. Now I know I am Canadian and can't vote down there...but I keep my eye on what is happening, because what ever happens economically or politically will effect us up here with in 1 year to 18 months after it happens down there, like it or not.
I have watched the long process that is taking place to get a leader for one of the parties wow!
One thing continues to amaze me is how all seem to ignore Ron Paul, CNN, ABC etc. I don't get it?

While there are some aspects of Ron Paul's candidacy that I appreciate and would love to see come to pass, there are others that encourage me to work against him. His isolationist tendencies are fine with me, I'd like nothing better than to see America mind it's own business in the world. Bring the troops home and close our many, many overseas military bases. Yet his ideas that American businessmen have the right to deny access to anyone they choose, goes against all that we worked for during the Civil Rights era. He is of the opinion that an American restaurant owner has the right to deny access to a black man simply because it's his right as a free man to decide who can eat at his restaurant. Sorry, I will fight against this man to my dieing breath for that reason alone.

At this point in time, the only way Ron Paul will win the Republican nomination, is through chicanery. There is reason to believe that his operatives in the caucuses, are using the caucus rules to get delegates seated, that are contrary to the actual votes of the caucus. While the linked article does not inform us of these tactics, the surety with which the writer expresses his confidence in Ron Paul becoming the nominee, indicates he is aware of the maneuvers, and expects them to succeed.

Ron Paul for president...No Thanks.
 
I recently wrote an article briefly outlining the 4 candidates prior to our county caucus. As Paul is frequently referencing the US Constitution I included the following:

"A third candidate correctly admonishes his peers for failing to adhere to the Founder’s principles on debt and economy while dismissing the Founder’s promotion of this nation as the “vanguard for the moral and political emancipation of all mankind.”

The quote is from one of the founders and is among many that express the desire to advance the American experience around the globe. There are disagreements of how to go about it, but Paul offers nothing to that end. My most critical examination of him is his complete lack of leadership as a 20 year member of the US Congress. Especially on monetary policy where many Americans applaud him for his rhetoric (count me among them), but he has never been able to get a single colleague to join him in congress and actually lead an effort to advance his rhetoric. He has grown very comfortable with talking big and settling for nothing.

Could this be because of the comfortable seats the rest of congress has and they don't want to rock the boat?
I do have issue with Ron Paul on allowing busnesses to govern themselves....that does not work, especially for the safty of workers etc.
 
It's not very often we get to witness the end of an empire. Looks a bit like Rome down there right now.
 
It is possible that Ron Paul may use the rules to get the nod, even if the voters did not choose him. Of all the Republican Party candidates, it is difficult to determine who is the least qualified, they all stagger to that side of the line. However, of all of the candidates, Ron Paul, if he gets his way, is assuredly the most likely to to fragment this nation. I am no fan of big government, however I do believe in a strong central government, for no other reason than to ensure all of the states are playing by the same rules, for the protection and betterment of the people. Ron Paul's policy goals, and desire to dismember the cabinet will send the US on a downward spiral that may be impossible to pull out of. Despite this, I feel confident that he will not be the Republican candidate, but if by some strange turn of events he does, Congress has enough power to prevent him from executing many if not most of his plans.

What empire? The end of the American Century, maybe, the beginning of the Chinese Century, possibly...

we may be down, but we are never out...

And the country isn't fragmented under president Obama? The problem here is that there re really no good choices for president...so once again we are relegated to picking the lesser of all evils instead of the cream of the crop...

Sad to say it happens in all countries...that is why I say that ballets should have the choice of 'none of the above' on them.
