Historically it was Tartar territory or even the Cossacks territory. And they associate more with the Ukrainians. And voting when an AK47 stuck in your face is not much of a vote.

It sure sounds like you have been sucked into the Russian propaganda machine. And Russia won't help anyone. If you were on fire in Russia there is no one that would even piss on you or I. It's a simple land grab for territory. Very similar to Hitler and the early stages of WW2
 
Its never a good idea to complete trust what you see on TV regarding the current crisis. I trust CNN and RT as much as I trust our government, which is not at all.

There's the western media version, the russian media version and then somewhere between the two there's the real version.

But you could get what you want very easily. They have a surprisingly simple immigration system so if you ever decided to go that route you could become a Russian citizen without much trouble. They had to make it simple of course to offset the thousands of Russians fleeing/escaping political and social repression, errrr, I mean (in Putin speak) "going abroad for an extended period of time to broaden their intellects and therefor making Russian a better country upon their eventual return....."

You could probably sell your property in Canada, buy a little dacha in the country side and live like a king.
 
Well I have all those things here...I also have free use of a cottage/summer house on a lake when I like, already.

I am not unhappy or angry... remember forums do not show emotions, there are times that I get angry, overall I am a very satisfied person. More often then not, I am frustrated with having a govn't that lies to the people almost all the time, I am perturbed with a western media that is run by one or two people that are in the pocket of large corporation and govn't and on top of that a population that believes them.:eek:
I am tired of the large corporations that get away with crimes that you and I would be sent off to a prison and have to work for some private corporation that makes profit off the backs of the inmates, at the tax payers expense.
One might say it's like that all over the world anyway so why bother? It most likely is but if we stop pointing things out and blowing the whistle they win and we will all be Sheeple off to the slaughter.
Oh there is a hope and today we celebrate it The Lord Has Risen!
There are times I wonder why He waits so long to come again as He has promised, I am tired and I believe most of humanity is also, this party down here has worn thin. I know the scriptures say that it will be as in the days of Noah, before He returns(Matthew 24:36-44). I say WTF did the people of Noah's day do? They did not have the industrial revolution, TV, computers, nukes, etc. Now there is another question I have for the Lord when I get time to ask Him.
So I wait and pray, I know the scriptures and teach them to any who should listen free or those in bonds. I speak as the apostle John in the book of Revelation..."He who testifies about these things says,"Yes, I am coming quickly."
'Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus, be with all the saints.Amen. (Revelation 22: 20-21)

So Happy Easter to all and my God bless you all in some way this day.

Happy Easter to you too and my apologies .. You're right, I misinterpreted what you wrote to mean something in a more general way that it does not.

I even agree with some of your points to some degree. We definitely have to be active to point these things out, what is wrong in our societies and the way we run our affairs. What I don't agree with is justifying horrible, even criminal actions of other states / groups with a kind of relativism that our western societies are somehow the same. No, they are not .. and I prefer them over the other failed, corrupt, cleptocratic entities by a long way. Maybe this is sometimes hard to understand if you haven't lived on the other side of the "iron curtain" for at least some part of your life.

Thank you sir. I could not have said this better. While I have not lived there yet I feel I have visited enough to get a good understanding of what the differences are.

On this Easter we should each take a moment and thank the Lord for what we have and pray for those that don't have. For example. The people of the former USSR are told, on a daily basis, how wonderful their life is and how horrible everyone else's is. For example (and I kid you not) that if they travel abroad they run the risk of being thrown in jail. If they are robbed while abroad the police will laugh at them and beat them because our police only help our citizens. Yet they live in fear of how much money they will have stolen from them while walking down the street and a police officer stops them and finds some violation to fine them for and take their money instead of getting a ticket. I could give many more examples. But they are told they are lucky and believe it.

Are we really in the grand picture...we are just as corrupt only we couch it in more flowery forms. ie. HSBC laundering drug money from Mexico...we can't prosecute them because they are to big and if they go down our whole economy goes with them???? LOL The more money you have the less one has to fallow the rules of law. What about the you rich kid that claimed Affluenza as a defence after killing 4 while driving drunk. I could go on and on but I believe I made the point.

I prefer here then there as well, but we have to remember when pointing a finger at someone, we are also points 3 fingers back at ourselves. I believe the bible has w few verses for this also. Matthew 7 Judge not less you be judged, for how we judge others we will be ourselves judged. Take the beam out of your own eye before removing the speck from your brother's eye. Once one does this then you can clean up your brother's eye. This is not a direct quote but the wayne welden reader digest version. ;)
