"After reports surfaced last month suggesting that Prince Charles thinks becoming king would be a form of prison, royal officials rustled up a hasty denial.

No, they said, that's not what the Prince of Wales thinks at all, even if that's what another unnamed royal official seemed to have suggested to Time magazine.

But the Time profile of the heir to the throne, who turns 65 today, did make clear that Charles is in no hurry to succeed his mother, the Queen — even as he takes on more of her official duties — and is in fact quite content concentrating on the charitable works he has adopted over the years."

Later in the article the writer says:

"I've never felt that Charles was desperate to become king. I have always felt that he is very happy with what he is doing at the moment," Junor said in an interview from London.

"For many years, he was not happy. He was desperately searching for a role, for something to do with his life, for something worthwhile, but he found it and he is really, really pleased I think with what he is doing."

I believe he needed to get a real job and stop being a welfare bum. Then he would of felt of some worth, now he will be changing govn't tits to suck on. I wonder which one of his castles will his pension cheque arrive at?

What a ridiculous, arrogant, ill contrived comment. A welfare bum.... Prince Charles brings more revenue into the country as part of the Royal family than he ever takes out. Below is just a drop in the ocean of what this man does and I guarantee you he does more work on a yearly basis than any of us here.

Since founding The Prince's Trust in 1976, Charles has established sixteen more charitable organisations, and now serves as president of all of those. Together, these form a loose alliance called The Prince's Charities, which describes itself as "the largest multi-cause charitable enterprise in the United Kingdom, raising over £100million annually ... [and is] active across a broad range of areas including education and young people, environmental sustainability, the built environment, responsible business and enterprise and international."

In 2010, The Prince's Charities Canada was established in a similar fashion to its namesake in the UK. Charles is also patron of over 350 other charities and organisations, and carries out duties related to these throughout the Commonwealth realms; for example, he uses his tours of Canada as a way to help draw attention to youth, the disabled, the environment, the arts, medicine, the elderly, heritage conservation, and education. In Canada, Charles has supported humanitarian projects, for example taking part, along with his two sons, in the ceremonies marking the 1998 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. In 2013, Charles donated an unspecified sum of money to the British Red Cross Syria Crisis appeal and DEC Syria appeal, which is run by 14 U.K charities to help victims of Syria's ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Charles was one of the first world leaders to express strong concerns about the human rights record of Romanian dictator Nicolae CeauÅŸescu, initiating objections in the international arena, and subsequently supported the FARA Foundation, a charity for Romanian orphans and abandoned children.

I believe we have two distinct views here Hier Bootie.
All his travels are paid for by the govn't of Britain, his wage if he gets one is paid by the govn't also...so he travels around and establishes charities if I had nothing better to do and all my expenses in life were paid for with out having to work at a real job like the other 99% of us, I could do what he does. As for what he does here in Canada ...I say keep him on your side of the pond along with the rest of the Royal bums and we will keep 100.000 of thousands of dollars on this side and run our own charities with the monies we send to support these lay about. In see his racial discrimination work is doing a bang up job in Quebec, LOL if he spent time there the french would drum him out of that province.

As for supporting activities in Syria why doesn't he get on the band wagon of telling the British, American and Canadian govn't to stop supplying arms to the rebels and Al Qaeda there by eliminating the need for humanitarian supplies. As for the other points I have not the time to address them I have a real job to go to so I can feed, house, and cloth my family. There by supporting the economy and putting real people back to work or keep them working.

I'd like to carry on but I think our two posts have put this one to bed.... mine is backed by facts... yours by your anti-establishment opinion. yuck The other members can make their own mind up. ;)
Well said sir where people get there kicks for knocking the Royal just proves they know very little of the work and revenue they bring to Great Britain

I can't believe Rob Ford has kept his job for as long as this...it is funny that all his friends left him high and dry. He use to hold BBQs at his house and the Conservative Finance Minister and PM would attend. As soon as he started to get caught ...they all of a sudden did not know him. LOL

(you can look it up.. Marion Barry)... sometimes you wonder if people have brains....

In Washington they don't. I think I'll start smoking crack. Seems like a good career choice.
