Hm, seems authorities have seen an easy opportunity to get their common way of action running again. The owner of these has that stuff registered and demilitarised? That means gun(s) can´t get used anymore and the drivers armor is only trumpet sheet yet. Why then take them away? And it took only how many years to get the attention of the authorities? Would be interesting to know how long he already had them. 1978 he drove around during the harsh winter? And maybe he had this tank already much longer.
Again, the typical manhunt where the risk is low for the "government" and one can pull the wool over the citizens eyes. And what was with the alleged Nazi Art? No finding was mentioned. And they had mentioned it if they would have been successful. So, so long no other info comes around I hold that for very dubious. I think there is another story behind that.

Surely it is not illegal to have the memorabilia, were they decommissioned.....Think we can call it a Collectors interest plenty of this stuff in War Museums ......I am thinking the German police are making a mountain out of a mole hill
