FGM Shirts

Numbers' idea is in fact great - we make one member in each country the official coordinator and it's his repsonisbility then to get the shirts made for a good price and to send them out to the others. Would work for me.

EoG has a fine idea, however, as a purchasing agent by trade, I would suggest we follow this regimen to get best pricing overall.

1. Agree on design
2. determine qty needed for entire club.
3. then each of those who have or know of a vendor, get a quote on entire purchase (qty can effect unit price)
4. evaluate shipping charges from each source member location to other countries (this need not be exact, but an approximation)
5. determine most economical means of acquiring after considering all the factors, as it may be more economical to have a few vendors supply, than to have each country making smaller lots.

I will volunteer my services to do the cost evaluation numbers crunching.

I've only just seen this thread, and I'm in. I think we need to have just one design that we all wear. If we do this country by country we will end up with 20 different designs. Shipping these days isn't that expensive and I'd be prepared to pay to be seen as one of The Few Good Men.

Well, shipping from the US to Germany usually costs allmost as much as the item, sometimes double that, depending on item price. In case of a shirt, I might end up with three times the original price for P&P - not an option for me, sorry. Plus I might be forced to fetch from customs and pay an additional fee.

So either we do it country by coutnry OR someone does the design and sends it to everyone interested in wearing a shirt so each of us can then go and have it printed by a printing shop of his choice. How does that sound?

I agree over seas shipping is a killer, we need a design and it should be approved by the chief himself Bootie seeing we are representives of this site. I wonder if Rico got this info and would he do something up?

While in general EoG has it right, there still may be significant cost savings to be had by buying in volume. Until we do an actual analysis, we are just speculating.
Still, the first step in doing this project, regardless of where we buy, is to come up with a design that is the same across the world, thereby binding us together as the Few Good Men we are.

Your right Facman...I will look into cost here in town and get those figures to you. It should be ok to ship on this side of the pond from one location. I will also give you the quality of the shirt info also. I thing shipping to South America is out though...I was going to ship Wally in Ecuador some WW2 magazines and it would cost more then what they were worth.

After getting the officially blessed logo in place everyone can just go to whatever local source they like and get a shirt made.
Much easier and much faster (for those of us who need instant gratification). It also allows for an individual's preference in shirt style.
Buying in bulk and then getting them shipped all over the world is unlikely to save anything when shipping is added to the expense.
Rico, have you started drawing yet!?
