So we can (and must?) freely choose among the specified allies? How are the available allies determined?
Also: I believe Battle 4 incorrectly refers to my (RED) allies, since it's says RED and the allies are different from the BLUE's allies in other battle.
(And is Germanic Horse Tribes (260-492 AD) allies in Battle 3's Africa correct?)

You can freely choose Allies as listed -- I picked them to be regionally appropriate from what was available. (also to provide some added variety for player in respect of the army lists)
For AFRICA battle I reckoned both Roman armies would have access to Germanic mercenary cavalry.
Probably better that region not to have any available Allies for that period.
I think German mercenary cavalry were all over the Roman Empire in that period.

We managed to beat back the Sassanids. I hope I don't have to do that again, they're incredibly hard to beat for the Romans! A hard match from @Cargol I'll try to post a screenshot of the current battle with @Nathangun. We're about to clash big time after a little skirmish foreplay. I mostly brought Franks to the field and my opponent brought a more mixed force.
