Got the Keychron Q6 installed today, Windows 11.

First thing I noted was how heavy it is. This thing is a brick, actually probably four bricks. It is way heavier than the IBM Type M that it is replacing.

Second thing is, while it is a clicky, mechanical keyboard, it is much more quiet that my venerable Type M. Shouldn't have any more problems with waking my wife up in the morning.

Replacing the key caps was child's play with the included tool.

Time will tell how well it holds up to my wine and Cheeto's stained hands.

As far as I can tell so far, this is a finely tuned keyboard. It also has some pretty lights.

Nice. Interesting to hear be cause the loud noise is the main reason I avoid those kinds of keyboards. Sounds like I should find one to play with.

What no way man. I'm actually interested. I like a keyboard that feels good. Those old IBM keyboards were just too loud. I've worked with people who use them and I hate being near them. So a good feeling key board that is quieter would be interesting. The thing is it super hard to get an idea of just how much sound they make.

Ok cool. I just pulled a key cap off and can confirm that my Keychron Q6 has the Gateron brown switches. As you can see in the video I am about to link, this is the middle-of-the-road compromise mechanical switch that Gateron offers...basically a compromise between their very smooth red switches and their very clicky (but loud) blue switches.

Me, I prefer the tactile click of an IBM Type M, which would probably be best represented by the Gateron blue switch, but since I am forced to get along well with others, specifically my wife, I'll settle for the brown switch.

I will tell you that I can type fast, very fast with this Keychron keyboard.

As I may have mentioned earlier, it is heavy, I'm guessing 10 lbs. This is a keyboard that is definitely not going to scoot around on your desk.

Went ahead and ordered the dustcover from the Keychron site. I don't want this thing to get too much Cheetos dust on it right from the get go.
