I gotta ask...

And the media doesn't report everything....that's censorship by omission...
100% this.

Mainstream media are masters of the lie of omission, leaving out context can massively change the way the story is portrayed. They can't directly lie because that would leave them open to litigation for libel.

As an example, and I can't recall if this actually happened or it was simply used as an example in the article I read:

A newspaper runs a story with the headline reading: Local Gym sends advertising to overweight couple. Cue outrage. When the rest of the story was revealed it turned out that yes, the Local Gym had, in fact, sent advertising material to an overweight couple..... as part of an overall advertising campaign, ie, the rest of the population also got the same advertising material.
That's how you make a story out of nothing, by leaving out context.

When you watch all sides of the mainstream media you discover that they all do this constantly. It's so tiring. Bring back old-school "Here is the News" type reporting please.

Yeah the 24hr news channels really blurred the line between journalism and opinion pieces.

We can still get just news reporting though. The hourly news podcasts for BBC, CBC and NPR for just three examples. They just have the latest news. Reporters still talk about what they have seen and run quotes from witnesses. No opinion just the news.
