"IT magpie" HA HA HA!!! :)

A friend of mine wrote me that his CM games are not working any longer since he upgraded to Windows 8.

So it seems as if it is better to de-install the games before upgrading.

Yeah they will work but am waiting on BF sorting out my activation license code as it says key already in use!! Grrrr.
A whole day and no response from BF. Im missing my CM already lol

 Oh no!

Maybe there are many other CM gamers who installed Win 8 and now need BF's help - could be that there is a big chaos now at their helpdesk... o_O

Maybe it would be a good idea if FGM posted a notices to all members. Warning them of the present problem with Windows 8 and CM engines.
Just another one of my crazy ideas

Wise words! ;)

Maybe John knows what to do?

Guys... Ive been out of the loop recently as I upgraded to windows 8 and am having some issues. Hopefully they will be sorted tonight once I finish work after 10-ish. Sorry guys.

Win8 has some nice features and some annoying features. I wouldnt rush to upgrade though.

I tried an Alpha version of windows 8 awhile back (I was just curious...) and was astonished at the attempted changes they were making. Why in the world do they expect users (most of who are not very technical) to completely relearn a way in which they do something? That's just bad business. The business world is littered with the burning hulks of such attempts . New Coke anyone?

My friend who was also "in the first wave" of "Operation Windows Overlord 8" told me the same - CMFI is running but CMBN not. He seems to have a problem with the license key activation now. Tried to find something about this Win 8 matter in the BFF but up to now nobody posted there about this problem.

there are no activations left

I never liked the fact that they can limit the use of what I buy. Back in the day, when BF was a fledgling company and came out with CMBO, me and my mates made a point of supporting them by not just copying the game between us. Now they treat us like red headed step children, bastards they are in my eyes.

I have managed to get both titles to work by setting it up to run as administrator. All games rolling again. Sorry for the delay.

I actually don't mind Windows 8. Getting used to it slowly but surely. Its the future so may as well embrace it at an early stage.
