The Mercedes-Benz L 1500 was a commercial vehicle redesigned version of the series 1500 and was built for military purposes. Some pre-war models worked with wood gas system to save fuel. In military model, L 1500, could carry up to 7 men with two crew, also available many compartments and handles for tools, ammunition, etc. Production lasted from 1941-1943 during which time nearly 5,000 units were completed.

The Mercedes L 1500 A had no armor or weapons and fortress weighing 2,390 kg unladen. It was powered by a Daimler-Benz 2.6-liter M 159 that allowed him to reach a maximum road speed of 84 km/h and 60 offroad. Its fuel tank had a capacity of 70 liters which allowed a range of 370 Km road while reduced to 230 km cross country.

The vehicle turned out to be very robust and reliable and can withstand considerable abuse and continue operating.
