[MOVIE] American Werewolf in London

When I first saw this in 1981 it surprised me how good it was, or at least how good I thought it was.
There had been very few movies about "modern" werewolves at the time so it was different right from the start.
It also had a lot of dark humor which was completely unexpected. A legitimate monster movie with humor. Huh.
Don't know how well it holds up after 39 yrs, but think I'll go find out.

The humor still holds up I think
At the time the transformation scenes were groundbreaking and set the standard for werewolf movies.
Still better than sparkling teenage vampires lol

Anyone seen 'Dog Soldiers'? 2002 If I remember correctly
Has quite a few notable British actors in it before they became notable
Oh yea, I loved that movie back in the day. Haven't seen it in years.

My favorite werewolf transformation, however, was probably from the Howling, around the same time.

Interesting tidbit
Horror movie SFX guy Rick Baker originally signed on the Howling to do the werewolf special effects and left the project to do American Werewolf!
The amount of useless knowledge one can accumulate in almost 63 years!!!
