New York plane crash: WW2 aircraft in Hudson River

Yeah, all over the local news this morning. Fleet Week in NYC. There were apparently a lot of witnesses to the accident with Riverside Park and restaurants right there. What a shame. Tomorrow the pilot's group will be doing a missing man formation as part of the scheduled airshow. My father briefly loaded ammo on the P-47 at the end of the war. His squadron started with P-40's and transitioned as they advanced from North Africa through Sicily and up the Rhone Valley.

Here is the closest thing I could imagine to seeing that he did in the Army loading those bombs.
