North Korea is making more noise.
Following the deployment of US B-2s to South Korea, North Korean President Kim Jong-un has ordered his military to be on alert for a strike against the US.

As part of the warning, North Korea has published two new images in a local paper (via Reuters) and what people are noticing is the background, which appear to show a missile strike plan on the US.

In this first one, the map of the US is most vivid. Here'sthe full picture.

Do you really think the elite of N Korea will give up all they have, just to stick their finger in our eye? I don't. They have it really good right now, to go to war with the US would bring the end to N Korea and in their hearts they know it. I look for more posturing by the phat phuk and maybe some small scale arty strikes or sunk boats off their west coast. This blowhard is just working on fooling the folks in his own country, the rest of the world is on to their game. No sleep lost here.

Everything's cool guys, he uses a Mac!!!

Seriously, he's a small man with nukes and 28.... That's not good combo.

Interesting military scenario analysis on a conventional war in Korea.
500-700 THOUSAND artillery shells available for use by the North , plus rockets?

They're probably just barking like all the other times since 52, but IF they are that crazy.

From the article:
"In the event that the 'bellicose rhetoric' of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un turns into something more serious, the opening hours of conflict could be 'pretty ugly,' defense analysts warn."

Having participated in 2 'Team Spirit' Exercises ('86 & '88) in Korea, I have seen first hand how precarious is the position of Seoul to bombardment from the North. Within the first hours of that conflict reigniting, Seoul will be turned into a 'Living Hell', as will all the cities in the path of an invasion. The front lines along the DMZ would likely be overrun, much as it was in 1950. And as good as it is, the US 2nd ID, will likely be all but destroyed in the first days. It is however, unlikely that N Korea will get the assistance of China in this go around, and after a few weeks of constant degradation, the North will once again run out of steam and the allies will repeat their push back and undoubtedly not stop short of regime change.
Anyway, that's my take on what happens if the 'Phat Phuk', who has never served a day in the military, gets froggy.

In the environment to be found in Korea should they kick off the dance of death again, the extensive use of N Korean commandos to blend in with the civilian population in the south will be the most difficult to deal with, and I'm not sure air power will be of much use in dealing with that threat. Now the North's regular military formations will be severely punished by our air superiority, but it will take a bit of time to bring those assets to bear. Unfortunately by then the toll will have been quite heavy for the defenders, especially the 2nd ID, which will be heavily targeted in any serious attack.

How well equipped and motivated are the South Korean forces these days?

From my personal experiences while there, the memories of the war in the 50s are as long as their hatred of communists. Some S Koreans won't even wear red clothes because of this hatred. Their troops in Vietnam had the highest kill ratio of all the allied forces, including the US, because they were fighting commies. The S Korean military will undoubtedly suffer greatly in any conflict, but they will be motivated by their desire to reunite their country as well. The MBT for S Korea is a knock off of the M1 Abrams and their APCs are Korean built as well.

One of the targets is the city of Austin, Texas. It is a hot bead of liberal thought and home of the Texas Longhorns football team. Obviously a legitimate target so it could be this is the real deal!
