Of course it's going to happen, and probably earlier than we think. The producing countries in the Middle East have been artificially increasing their reserve figures for years. Furthermore I see no reason why Saudi Arabia which is the worst regime of the region shouldn't be sooner or later impacted by the liberation movements...
 
What a tragedy if oil ran out, I wouldn't be able to buy a small tin to oil my bike (sniffle)
 
Before we run out of oil, the price could be a first problem. Heard this afternoon that Nomura Securities in Japan estimated the oil price to shoot up to 220 bucks a barrel if troubles really take up in Algeria on top of Libya... (and they will in my opinion)

Probably go back to the desert and raise goats and camels... unless western economies have found in the meantime an alternative solution, in which case they will live from the revenues of the gigantic amounts they have invested in our countries...

You need to check out the movie "Who killed the Electric Car". A real eye opener, it reveals that battery technology to power a car at 50 mph for 300+ miles, existed decades ago. Guess who owns the patent on that technology now? Big Oil, that's who. You won't see a viable alternative form of energy until the Oil Barons have wrung every last cent of profit possible from their liquid narcotic.
 
"He who controls the wells is master" says the guy who wrote the leading article, and the Arab world is slowly waking up to that fact.
It's dawning on them that America's vast military machine (tanks/planes/ships etc) depends on oil as its lifeblood, and that by controlling the wells they can defeat that machine by cutting off its oil supply, plummeting the US back into the stone age where they'll have no weapons except sharp sticks..

Yes you could be right but I am sure they won't like it......Tough on them....LOL
 
Maybe all new cars will come equipped with a "Mister Fusion" power source.

America will never let that happen, even if it means that we have to conquer and occupy the entire region to protect our access to the oil.
 
Yes, America and the West will look for the slightest excuse to occupy oil countries; for example I bet at the moment they're having conferences to cook up a reason for taking over Libya..;)

A little while ago I researched the question "When will the worlds oil run out?", and the consensus of opinion among oil company bosses, experts and analysts was "Sometime this century".
I also researched the follow-up question- "When will the world's oil consumption begin to exceed the amount being pumped out of the ground and seabeds?", and opinions varied, but some experts said 2010 was the year when demand began to outstrip supply for the first time in history.
In other words, oil began running out last year, and now its downhill all the way.
Optimists say "Okay, but so what if it runs out within the next 50 or 100 years, we'll have found new sources of energy by then, or new untapped oilfields", but there's no guarantee.
