Hi, the new wargame of John Tiller is available...

Battles of Normandy includes 2 Campaigns with 23 scenarios, 5 variable scenarios and a further 65 standalone scenarios ranging from 6 turns to 144 turns in length – a total of 93 different situations. Representative days of battle from June, July and August 1944 are included with a good mix of small (battalion/regiment), medium (division) and large (corps) engagements.

I'm really interested in this. Heard that the AI isn't great in Tiller games.
@Bootie, what do you think? Also, the graphics are a bit "uuuughh". Are there usually mods available? If you get it, please make one of your game reviews :)
 
Recently got into the John Tiller games, really enjoying them. Haven't played a Panzer Battles title yet but this looks great.
 
I got it recently and it is a marvel of wargame, the small size of the hexagons I love 250metros and at the company level units, maps are very good, much work on them.

Would anyone who has this be a good sport and post a list of the beach landing scenarios. I'm about to get this and those 14 scenarios might be a deal breaker.
Also, a recommended buy?
 
I got this game and I must say it hits a sweet spot for me with the theme, the scale, the realism/research that went into it and the reasonable level of complexity. However, I'm new to JT games and have a few questions about the interface that someone might be able to shed light on (no forum over at JTG):

I find it hard to really grasp a unit’s combat strength apart from the number of men and morale. Is there no way to find out what equipment they have and how effective they are at different ranges?

Is it possible to pause during the AI processing turn?

When deselecting units so that they don’t show on the map I can’t still see identified mine markers? Should it be so?

Is an ”isolated” unit the same as a unit without supply?

Is there any setting to show hex nr on the hexes?

Sometimes when I select a target it states ”no valid targets” – what does that imply?

Is there any way of always having the ”hotspot hex” terrain info displayed? It is a hassle to right click on it all the time.
 
You can see more info about the unit when you press right-mouse on the unit images on the left side. I don't think you can pause. I think isolated units have to do with supply yes. Not sure about the rest, sorry.
 
Thanks. I know about right-clicking on unit image but as far as I can tell those figures are only a basic proficiency vs different targets etc. and doesn't change as you start to get casualties.
