Question 389: Who am I and what am I famous for?(deepest and longest raid)

The raids were against his orders, he just decided to do them. The fight at Kentucky cost him the life of his youngest brother, and although the union derided the actions as the Calico raids because of how much 'material' they liberated, the small force tied up tens of thousands of union troops some of whom would have participated at the Battle of Chickamauga.

Do you mean the fact it raided Northern States...

Indiana and Ohio

Well they covered over 1000 miles from Tennessee to Northern Ohio in 46 days and despite the fear and redeployments they caused it was another defeat.

The raid indirectly assisted the Battles of Gettsburg and Chichmagua by diverting northern troops to block this raid. Even though Morgan was not ordered to conduct this kind of operation.

During one of the Raids he gave out candy to the local kids trying to hearts and minds.

It was the deepest raid behind enemy lines, and was done Custer was part of.
