[SCENARIO] Fournel - Three Patrol Action

So, everyone playing H2H had the Germans taking a pounding?? I played it just recently more than once and couldn't get an American victory. Granted I played in real time, which I had never done. Chose this scenario because of the limited units and smaller map for my first RTS experience with CM. I had a hard time getting the reinforcements in position before the Germans first , wiped out the Platoon leader in the farmhouse inside the enemy area, and second, gained a firm defensive posture throughout much of the village. There weren't many ways through the hedgerows. I never tried bringing reinforcements from the German right flank beyond the paved road. Perhaps that was the key. Playing RTS was a new experience and I think I'll being play more of it in in the future.

Wyoming, just a little confused, are you playing as the Germans? Germans are being pounded but the American's can't win?

++++Spoiler++++
The Germans in the initial cut were woefully under powered. I'd be breaking history if I beefed up the forces in size or experience levels so opted to change the timings for the reinforcing platoons to arrive well before the Americans. This wouldn't allow the high experienced and good morale Paratroopers to set up inside the village before the Germans arrived and take pot shots from behind hedgerows. The Germans have time on their side unless you play ultra conservatively but the Americans have the higher quality troops.

I also added a few gaps in the hedgerows that should favour the Germans. The Americans have demo charges but run the risk of alerting the German forces of their direction of movement.

Escaping the American HQ unit from the farmhouse has a very small point objective and shouldn't swing a battle by itself. (They also have demo charges :) ) On the Americans side, they need to take out the 88 gun crew which has low morale and no ammo for the AA gun so both sides have a token 'easy' objective worth equal points.

Hope that helps.

I twice played as the Allies using RTS and was beaten each time. The guns were taken out or abandoned in both my games and the German units around them took heavy casualties. It was a good game and I'll give it another try for sure. Playing in real time changes the dynamics, suddenly time is flying by and your nearly out of time trying to get ref's into position withou them walking into an ambush while your distracted on the other flank.

I think playing in RT changes the game immensely. I got interested in trying it when considering buying a Close Combat title. Watching CC game videos on Utube, I got to thinking why buy one of them, when the same experience (probably better) can be created on CM. CC let's players adjust mortar and MG fire in seconds and thats unrealistic. Granted the top down maps are picturesque in CM, but the whole CC community wants an upgrade to 3D. I'm going to try your scenario again tonight.
CC has little sprites moving from a top down view and CM has floating icons. CC and CM both use waypoints, but CM's are adjustable/draggable.
