The Crazy Eight Tournament

hm... What kind of tournament are you thinking of, Dellie? :)
 
Just a simple tourney bracket @Shorker , with a random seed. It would actually go more smoothly if we only had 8 participants, so I guess we'll see who signs up.

All the matches would be QB Meeting Engagements, unless you think it should be otherwise. I was thinking we could vote on a universal match size and time limit, as well as rarity and "difficulty" level. I propose medium matches with 30 minute time limits like the DAR I did with Meat Grinder. Don't care too much about rarity and difficulty, I'd be fine with it at standard and elite.

The rest (nationality, map, conditions, rules ect) could be up to the players on a match by match basis.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

EDIT: The Top Ten Tourney is now The Crazy Eight Tourney :) The 8 highest ranked players who sign up will participate.

Well we've got five so far. @Floki , I just checked the ladder and you're at #8! Congrats! I imagine Meatgrinder would want to play so that might be six, but we'll have to hear from him first.

Still haven't heard from @Pekische or @Bill

@panzerbob and @strachwitz aren't working, are they still members?

@eniced73 , at the moment you have a good chance of making it in.

I should have made this mandatory :D:D

EDIT: For anybody new to the thread, this will be a fairly small tournament. You'll play a maximum of three medium sized matches with short time limits, so it won't be a huge commitment. And it's all in good fun, just a chance for us to play each other :)

However I do not think that ladder in current form without ELO system is fully revealing and that is the reason that I am in top-eight. I am still CM beginner in all ways and these battles will be really for "crazy tournament" ;) It will be an honor for me to play with the best of you...

@DellieJonut This is a great idea and good on you to take the initiative and time to organize all this. I am good with whatever kind of games we play. I really like the idea of playing against someone new. Looking forward to all this and if I make the grade then I glad to take part in this.

I agree about the ELO system, but the ladder is what it is. I'm by no means the best CM player, but everyone on the top has a different play style and personality. It'll be fun to see how we match up.

BTW, yes, I agree about the need for an ELO system here on FGM. But, that is another discussion. Meanwhile, defend yo Cornbread, Gentlemen.

Well, that settles it. We've got the following contestants-

We're doing a tourney bracket gentlemen. You must win to progress to the next fight. The initial pairings will be completely random- I am going to draw your names out of a hat :D

THE RULES-
  1. Each match will be a medium sized meeting engagement, 30 minutes long.
  2. Map selection, nationality, and any other QB options will be negotiated by the players in the match.
  3. No preplanned arty or Target Reference Points (TRP's).
If anybody wants the rules changed say the word. Otherwise I'm going to post the pairings and we'll get underway.

I would like to suggest - for the reason of fairness - that the game master should pick the map so that we are all playing on the same maps in each round.
 
Rumours say that after the tournament the winner will receive this for the first prize? :D
