Things way too quiet -- a little bored.

Ted what makes you think we are hiding the real story?

Perhaps the way I put it didn't go down as I mean't it to........What I tried to say was we don't have to discuss and argue if there was a reason for POS to leave, in the past any subject can turn into a silly argument.......I didn't mean it to sound like there was any thing to hide.which I am sure there isn't

Think it POS's decision has as much to do with the change of the seasons or the bad summer as it has to do with the ladder discussion. POS had been fairly quiet on the forum the last weeks, so there are probably other reasons too.

What I mean is, we don't have to second guess and do a bit of personal soul searching to find out if it was something the FGM did. It is POS' decision. Not ours.

As Bootie said, POS is more than welcome to return whenever he wants to.
Me, i want to thank him for his contribution to FGM all these years.

Yes Cargol is right ...the contribution of POS to CM can not be measured. His posts and tactic section is helpful for all and especially for the newbie. After many years of playing CM it has wained up and down as a priority in my life. The break away I had was good and refreshing...I am sure he will be back every so often to add spice to CM.

Poor Old Spice perhaps...?
Mad as a box of frogs but endearing for all that and he did provide some useful tactical advice, I predict he'll get bored and reappear in a few weeks/months.

:peep:

Wow, I have been out of it!!!

CARGOL in an ARGUMENT?!!! WOW, I thought he was such a squeaky clean boy scout!!!! Well, it's good to know he does have some marbles in his trousers!

I couldnt reisist the dig. Old injuries and all that. My apologies Cargol. :)

Anyways....

POS is one of the most influential and most important factors to keeping CM alive. I know that sounds like a alot of kissassery, but I FULLY believe that is true. I think he's "nuts" at times and he has rubbed me wrong just like anyone else, but he is nothing is he is not ambitious, dedicated, and CERTAINLY an INTERESTING fellow. The POS "strut" video was AWESOME!!! I laugh about it every time I think of it...not because of any other reason than it's unflinching egotistical unabashed unsympathetic creativeness at it best. Whatever you may think, I find that kind of thing great!

Rico is another genius as his campaign ideas and imagery of tourneys and such make you think you have just went to the store and bought a an AMAZING new classic "chit" style wargame (like in days of yor.)

And the likes of Bootie...well 'nuff said.

My point is is that in order to keep something interesting, you need people like this. You HAVE to have people who are dedicated and absorbed in whatever you are trying to do.

A tournament does not run well if you dont have enthusiastic players and if they are not there, then the "meister" better go into double time to MAKE it what their vision is.

I believe I was one of those people, but I got shot down. The details dont really matter, but the main point is is that you NEED people like that.

I dont agree with Spike about the ladder, but you know what? LET HIM HAVE IT. If you dont like it, then you're not going to really be affected either way. Let HIM run it. HELL, let him RUN ALOT of things here. 1) he has the time 2) he has the dedication 3) no one knows CM like him!

IMO POS's idea of the ladder is not fair because I saw 1st hand how much it took to win it. I tried my BEST!!!! I wound up 2nd TWICE simply because there was NO WAY for me to get as many games as Cargol. It was impossible for me....and I tried my damnest at one point having over 28 games running at one time and getting turns out AT LEAST once a day. I even snuck in games at work!!!! Not only could I not have the same kind of incredible win streak he had (which in itself is unbelievable), but I just couldnt get as many games in.

Also, guess what the Blitz has that we dont? ADVERTISING!!!! I tried to get this rolling, but that is a loooong story. You know what has been missing since my last blowout? The section I put into Wikipedia. No one seems to have noticed and I havent said a word, but I bet new visitors dropped off sharply from the time it went away. Put it back in and see the difference if you think I'm crazy.

And tournaments....GUYS, you HAVE to put TIME LIMITS ON TURNS and keep things running apace. Set an overall time limit, set the scene. War is ALL ABOUT TIME!!! Not only that, but I have been here long enough to safely say that I am CONFIDENT that long tourney just do not hold people's attentions.

Even LB's famous and INCREDIBLE KG tourney started taking a big snooze when he started getting less time to monitor the length of time inbetween matches (but DAMN IT IF THAT WASNT ONE AMAZING TOURNEY) ..I give a salute to a lost comrade....maybe someday he will find the enthusiasm to come back and do more great things.

K, I'm not saying any of this to pick fights or cause a heated argument or even draw attention to myself.

At one time I was all consumed with this site WHICH MADE CM EXCITING ALL OVER AGAIN!!!! But I was deflated and never really recovered and whether I was right or wrong doesnt matter because the end result was one less enthusiastic player and tourneymeister.

You HAVE to have enthusiastic people playing and governing to make things work. I say bring Spike back and let him run some things. Bootie CANNOT do it all forever..even MORE SO now!!!!

FGM is SUCH a GREAT site. Bootie has done wonders with its look and its feel that it stands apart, but then it also has not moved much either. I'm just speaking from my own viewpoint.

Listen, you are basically dealing with ONE VERY old game. Unfortunately, that is one of the problems.....We tried to bring enthusiasm with more games but they all fail....not only because of enthusiasm within FGM members, but because of lack of "marketing" and opening of borders.

Eh.....whatever. My words have never really come out right and I tend to be brash and speak my mind in a way that offends. I'm just trying to voice a vision and a warning. FGM will not last forever the way it is. That's just reality. That it has lasted this long speaks VOLUMES to the indomitable spirit and love of CM that Bootie possesses.

Even though my involvement dropped off considerably, I could never really fully tear myself away completely and that speaks on something unique and great. It would be a shame to see that go away......

Do we have to rise the ladder question every 2 minutes?
I believe we all agreed that we like ladder like it is right now.

VR, good post and I can appreciate your CM passion and hopes for FGM's continuing success.
That said, in the end this is Booties' site to run as he chooses, with whatever help from us he might ask for.
POS didn't agree with that. You don't seem to either.
I'm just sayin' I'm putting all my chips in on Bootie. I think it's the winning wager. Has been so far.

It sadden me that we lost POS, and hope that he will return.
I agree with mTK 100%, this is Bootie site. Bootie has always ask us for our thoughts and has acted in the best interests of all of us.
Some of us may disagree with Bootie or each other at times, but we do move on.
FGM is where I can find opponents, challenging campaigns and tourneys and subjects that interested me.
Lastly FGM allow me to host a tournament here too....my thanks to you all.
And a last thought on POS, he may have left us for the wrong reasons. Once he realizes that he will return I hope. Sometimes events outside of FGM can make us do stupid things, like quitting an organization and our friends out of misdirect anger.
We all human and are allow to make mistakes at times. And we can also forgive each other too.

Thanks for the post VR and kind comments mTk & Lighthorse.

What we need to understand is POS left of his own free will. He wants a bitch ass ladder that will provide him an ego rub because hes a trained killer. Unfortunately we dont offer that here so he left.

As for wiki I didnt even realise we had an entry and to be honest our numbers have been consistently rising over the last year with 'active' members.

Is this the ladder those desperately seek? And what of the strut??? Could this possibly be??

All jokes aside, I know I'm new and my opinion don't really mean much but its plain to see just by the quality of the site and its members that bootie has a good thing going here. I'm just starting out and wish I would have discovered this game along time ago it's fantastic. And although the initial buzz of the new game coming out has died down a bit, this is the type of game that will last for years and players time playing will go up and down. But Bootie hang in there you've had your site up apparently for years and there's good reason for that. You obviously know what your doing, and I'm sure POS will get the sand out of his panties soon enough and will be back. Keep your head up!

WOW ! Just read the last few pages, I guess time heals all wounds, I hope POS will be back.
I won't give an opinion as I'm not active as I used to be due to work.

Yeah, I've been uber busy with crap - my turn rate is 1 to 2 a day or every other day. I blame work.
