Tournament Results

Congratulations @Bleskaceq , a well deserved win. Having played a couple of battles against you, I'm not surprised though :) .

Also, thanks to @SlySniper for organising and running this tournament, I will sure try to be in the next one.

Finally, thanks to my other opponents @Hilts @BalzBack @Marder75mm @A Canadian Cat for the games played, I enjoyed all of them - just some more and some others less so. ;)

Yeah once again another fun and very competitive tournament by @SlySniper Great to see players getting better and better. Special tip of the hat to the top two scorers @Bleskaceq 439pts and @Aurelius 419pts. Well done guys! (y)

Thanks to all my opponents as well, solid turn rates and good times!

Keep a eye on the site. I mentioned I will be doing a new version of the Tournament.

The format is similar, but I am calling it Field Warriors enlisted.

The battles are smaller in scale, so the time for turns should be short for the players.

There will be a new rank reward. (all Enlisted ranks).

Maybe two battles being sent out at one time, so a total of six.

but hopefully in a shorter time frame for the whole tournament.

Anyway, with winter coming and hopefully things slowing down for me.
Maybe I can get that going here soon.

Also it is time for you all to pay up for your Tournament.

I would like you to tell me which scenario was your favorite and why???

I know from my end , I really liked how 1,2 and 4 came out as to just being interesting battles. 3 was all infantry and also played well. Only battle 5 came short as to what I would like to provide, but hey, every battle cannot be a winner.

ANyway, give me your feedback on which one was the favorite for you.

My favorite scenario is the one from match 3 — pure infantry in an urban environment. Match 4 comes a close second, since it’s a mix of infantry with a few tanks, also in an urban setting.

I liked the games where I scored points
Foremost they are all excellent scenarios in the field warrior format.
I will have to review to tell my favorites. I did enjoy them all.....
well not the all infantry one .... but of course thats the game I pulled @MeatEtr

Well done again @Bleskaceq. And thanks again to @SlySniper for another fast paced tournament.

I agree with @Marder75mm with regards to favourite scenarios being 3 & 4 by far: Infantry-centric/heavy in urban environment.

Round two was a very interesting scenario with a nice mix of unusual weapon types, but sight lines were horrible and seemed to be an issue - that’s no reflection on the scenario, more a map problem.

Round one battle was far too big for my liking, sorry!

The last battle was my least favourite: mirrored objective, race to the flag(s) meeting engagement AAAAGGGHHH. Just feels very unrealistic. The forces felt uneven, in favour of the Germans, but the briefing suggested that they would be similar.

Anyway, great fun again, Sly, and thanks also to all my oppos for fast turn rates, banter and fair play. Looking forward to the next tournament.

round two map spotting, there was something funny there wasnt there. It appears it was my settings that likely caused that. I selected thick haze, it for sure had a effect on how well things were being picked up as to spotted.
I think spotting is one of those things that is just not quite right in all CM games. How you can have LOS to the action square directly in front of a building, but not the building is something that always confounds me. Then there is the instances where I change my elevation setting, and suddenly I have LOS to the action square I am interested in. When it comes to environment settings like "hazy" I think these should be more effective to LOS hindrance then they are. It is what it is, and I'm sure everybody runs into these problems, so it is not unbalanced towards either side.

The whole spotting concept was a huge task to try and take on and program something that works. I look at it that it was a challenge that was beyond getting perfectly right. Plenty of short falls that are unnatural to the real world.
but I do like it compared to what we had before, I really hated borg spotting in the old games.

I think there will be improvements with the cm3 engine that will help resolve some of the issues, I am sure we will still find something to complain about.

For me games 1,2, & 5 were closer to operational rather than tactical. I like tactical better where I can put myself in the place of each unit, and make decisions each would likely make given what they were facing. To that end game 3 was my favorite. Game 4 was a nice size, although it didn't go well for me. For some reason, my field/AT guns never got any spots.

I had my best result in Game 5, although I found it tough to play, probably due to the combination of the large map, its appearance of flatness in the 3D world we play in (it wasn't flat but that is not easy to see on your 2D screen), and the discrepancy between LOS, and spotting.

Finally, I would say that the maps of Games 1 and 2 were the most interesting, and the wealth of units in those two games gave the attacker the most options.

Thanks, Sly, for hosting yet another one of these tournaments. I really like that these scenarios are more experimental and puzzle-ish. A lot of unique situations that wouldn't usually come up in this game, where historical background and context usually drives the scenario design. Looking forward to your next tourneys!

Also, thanks to my opponents for fast turn rates and the generally relaxed attitude!
