I watched a documentary on the disappearance of Glenn Miller. He died on the day before the Germans kicked off their offensive for the Battle of the Bulge. He was on a single propeller aircraft that went down in the English Channel. Ike wanted Glenn to take his band over the France to play for the troops in order to lift morale.
