What did you learn to Drive in

Oh yes, if the driver wasn't aware of just how easy it is to flip one of those babies, they would exceed the vehicles capabilities and roll em. A very unforgiving vehicle.
The Jeep we had in D 1/184th 40th ID (ARNG) was built in 1965, and saw service all the way until replaced by Humvees in the early 90's.

I'm really astomished - thanks for your explanation - I always thought it was kind of a "best friend" of the GIs, scuffproof and a true, brave companion that does it's duty everywhere, even in the wildest areas without "complaining". So I was wrong and a vicitm of the propaganda... ;)

Don't get me wrong, the Jeep was dependable and filled many jobs, it was just a lot more dangerous to drive than many knew.

I learned to drive in a 1976 Toyota Celica GT:

My first car that I bought when I was 17 a 1966 Dodge Charger:

I had alot of fun with that car. It had a 318 when I got it and I put a 440 in it. I have always been a car nut. For a while I was into Mopars. Also Had a 1966 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S. That was a cool factory performance car I wish I never sold. Kind of ugly, but really quick little car. It had all the factory go fast goodies.

Then in college I got heavily involved in Datsun Z cars. I even helped organized the first national Z-Car convention in 1989. I ended up having I think 5 different ones over the years. My last one was a sweet all original 77 280Z. My favorite was a very early 1970 240Z. The 77 was a nice driver and if it had had air I would have kept it. I sold it just a few years ago.

My car passion for the last 20 years has been the 911. I have been working on a 67 for years that my wife says I will never finish. One day! One day... I've had 2 different 67's. And one of them actually ran and drove!

So needless to say, I am and always will be a car guy.

1958 Cherolet Bel Air It was my family's car, and all green, not like this two tone example I found.

I become pale of envy - Your guys had really luck to drive such cars. Very beautiful. I know I already said that a few times about the other ones. But it´s the only what one can say to such wonderful cars.

Greetings :)

Learned to drive in a 1947 Packard Custom Clipper. Hated the car at first until it became apparent that the beast was the ultimate party barge.

THe Packard Clipper was a car with S T Y L E !!! Sweet ride...!!

The car I spent some time learning how to drive first was a '60 VW Bug. It belonged to my friend's parents. He had a news paper route. I "drove" it occasionally while he threw papers out the window. I would sometimes drive it up on lawns so he'd have a better throwing angle. :p

Mostly I drove my parent's car. A 1960 Thunderbird. A horrible car for a 16-year-old male with that center console. :(

You rode around in a T-Bird and complain about the console! That Bird probably landed you more than a few good times, I'm sure.

Dude, its the B A C K seat that counts!!! And the T-bird was a chick magnet!
