Hi guys

I will be out of town till Thursday morning with work so no turns till then.

I will try to crank out some all turns before I leave.

Some days of fun, very hot and full on though. No internet at all.

But who needs internet when your on exercise.

This is me and the boys, about to take a cruise with the airforce.

Heres a small trip out to our objective in the venerable old Huey.

And one of our taxi arriving to pick us up after the exercise.
She's a great old bird, sadly they are being phased out and the NH-90 is coming in next year, so probably my last ride in them. :(

What a great old slick!

Royal New Zealand Air Force
16 UH-1H (including some upgraded UH1D) plus leased aircraft 1965 - present.

No. 3 Squadron RNZAF
No. 41 Squadron RNZAF
Being replaced by the NH90.

I worked on the avionics of Hueys in the 80's while stationed in Germany. The UH-60 Blackhawk was just being phased in.

@ Bootie - Thats only my first month off, still have another to go. :D Just had a 5 day break from holidays to go to our South Island Camp. Its where all the 90 odd operators from the South Island of NZ get together and train and do some fun stuff and drink some cold ones.

@ Rico - Yeah that last strike jets we had were the skyhawks and they were phased out in favor of the F-16 from the USA, but that government lost the elections and they succeeding government cancelled the contract which ****ed off all our allies, Aussie, USA, Britain. They have never been replaced and all we have are some

P-3 c's for maritime surveillance

and our aging helicopter fleet which is only now being replaced by this beautiful thing.

Your right it is a great old slick ! We flew with 3 Sqdron this time. Its exciting having the NH 90 coming in but I feel a tinge of sadness in that they are almost gone.

The Blackhawks was a finalist in the RNZAF contract, but didn't have all the capabilities that were needed in the contract. I flew on some in Australia, nice flying, plus some cabs (Chinook) and they were cool.

being an island nation, I can see where the NH-90 would be preferred over the UH-60. engine redundancy and reliability over water.

There you go, maybe they did make the right decision.

@ Louis - I am the one in the circle.
